C Fruit Life Pt I: A place that sells Mango and Durian pizzas

What? Durian? What did I just see?
Huffington post even published an article named "WTF Is Durian And Why You Ever Want to Eat It?" last year. (https://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/04/21/what-is-durian_n_7111232.html)
Yes. There are people in the world actually like durian. They don't smell terrible or anything like smelly feet to me. I happen to be one of the people who appreciate its unique taste. So you could imagine how happy I was to find out there is a place in Allston that specializes in making durian drinks and desserts.
But they still need to survive if they are running a food business in the U.S. Therefore, they also specialize in mango drinks and desserts.
The store locates at 171 Brighton Avenue in Allston. You could take the B line of Green Line and get off at Harvard Avenue. It would only take 5-8 mins walk from the train stop to there.
The operating hour of the place is from 1:00pm to midnight. It is one of the dessert places I know that operates that late.
My friend and I got there 10 minutes later than its opening time. As expected, there was not a single customer. We didn't even see the servers.
The size of the place is bigger than the average bubble tea houses. I guess it is because technically it is not a bubble tea house but a dessert place. There are around 8 tables inside the store. One of them is a long wooden table (as seen above) that has four wooden desks. A large group of people can sit there. The other tables are smaller and come with cushion seats.
We waited about 30 seconds till someone finally greeted us. We were seated at one of the smaller tables.

Our server gave us two iced waters as we sit down. The dessert menus were already on the table. She also gave us two drink menus.
Their dessert menu is like an art. It is very colorful and has great visual appealing. Each dessert has its picture and its English and Chinese names.
The first couple of pages are about their shaved ice. The flavors of their shaved ice have great variety. Some of their best-selling shaved-ice are of mango, matcha, and blueberry flaor.
Shaved-ice is normal dessert. What knocked us out of the chair is that they offer Durian and Mango pizzas! In our mind, putting pineapples on pizzas have already been weird. Now people even put durian and mango in pizza. They also have other topping options , including banana, apple, and blueberry.
Would the fruit and cheese combination turn out to be quite good?
And yes. They also offer traditional pizzas.
With both excitement and doubt, we ordered a 12 inch pizza with half mango and half durian toppings. I also ordered a papaya smoothie as I am a big fan of papaya.
After 20 mins, both our pizza and drink were on our table.
The left side is with the mango topping and some mayonnaise. The right side is with the durian topping, which is not obvious as it is mixed with the cheese.
I took a slice of the mango side. From the look of it, the pizza crust base is neither too thick or too shallow. And there is right amount of cheese to cover the crust.
The moment I bit my slice, the first thing that came to my mind that is it tastes better than I thought. At first I think the pizza either would be too sour because of the mango or the flavor of the cheese would overpower the mango. It turned out that I could taste both the mango and cheese in my pizza. The mango cubes have a little bit acidity but the amount of them balances well with the cheese. I even have the feeling that they added canned tuna in it.
I also like that the pizza is not soggy because of the mango. I could still feel the crunch as I bites the crust base.
From the side I can still see a little bit durian. Compared to the mango side, the durian flavor is slightly stronger than the cheese as I could taste the sweetness of the fruit. But all I can say is that the durian pizza is really good. This fruit pizza would definitely save you a lot of time if you want to have pizza and dessert at once.
Now on to my papaya smoothie. The top of it is actually cream. You would need to stir the cream if you want it to come down to mix with the smoothie. The smoothie is pretty dense. It makes me feel like I am drinking a liquid version of shaved ice. However, I really like that they use real papaya to make the drink.
At the end of our eating journey, my friend and I were both happily stuffed. We tried not to smell each other to see if any one of us had remaining durian smell.
All I can say is that C Fruit Life has given a lot of tropical fruits justice.
