TBarr in Brookline revisited

If you are a frequent visitor to my site, you'd know I did not have a good impression of their split cup drinks (check out my post on Jan 21st). But I always give a store a second chance, as I know there are times when it is me to blame. In other words, I could order the wrong drink. Or, it is their staff to blame. Who knows if they happen to have a bad day? This time I decided to go for their bubble tea.

Like many foodie, I like checking reviews on Yelp.

And I discovered one of the reviews.

This reviewer says their milk teas are not good. She even had a powdery milk tea one time. Ouch.

I chose Saturday afternoon for my second visit. I was shocked when I saw there were that many people inside the store. People these days really crave for bubble tea.

Luckily, the line was not long. I ordered their Amazing Milk Black Tea as I was very attracted by the word Amazing. I supposed the bubble tea should be exactly like its name. My friend ordered a Honeydew Milk Tea. We needed to find out if it is really powdery.

This is my Amazing Milk Black Tea. I could not tell if it's really amazing by its appearance.

This is my friend's Honeydew Milk Tea with boba and egg pudding. The color of it is light green. It is a little bit foamy from the look of it.

On to their taste. The impression I had from the first sip of my drink was it tasted like Oreo Milk Tea. Their bobas are soft and easy to chew. They are better than the one I had at TBarr without a doubt. However, I would not say the milk tea is amazing. It is just...very normal.

As for my friend's Honeydew Milk Tea, he said he really liked the their egg puddings. It surprised me when I saw the egg puddings at the bottom. It's the first time I saw egg puddings in milk tea to be yellow. In addition, he agreed that the bobas are soft and easy to swallow. They did not get stuck in the straw midway. At the end, he commented that the flavor is unique, but in a good way. He did not say a word about powdery.

I finally can say TBarr in Brookline is a place that lacks consistency. If the owner is reading this, I suggest him/her to put "being consistent" as one of their missions. Oh another thing I want to give my 5 cents in is that it is better to remove the word "amazing". That word has given customers unrealistic expectation.
